Day 15/365 - He had his orders...

Day 15/365 - He had his orders...

I was checking out some world war II pilot information and found some pretty some pretty scary stuff. This is out of a journal of sorts of a pilot.

When we reached the target area, we had to come in under the overcast at 4,500 feet. Everything was dark and eerie – we could see flashes of the big guns on the ground and the flak explosions in the air. Light from the exploding shells was reflecting off the clouds -- it was as if we were looking into a segment of hell.

You can check out the rest of it at pages.prodigy.com/fighterpilot/ and this other site www.acepilots.com/

Trinco -Battered.....Bruised....Yet Beautiful!

Trinco....One experience that will change the way you see life. It just makes you realize how blessed you are, to live a life of comfort, yet realize how damned you are to miss the wonders of life in this little pearl we live in. Filled with awesome memories, stupid decisions, dangerous consequences and adrenaline pumping thrills, this was by far the best vacation I've had!!!

The first thing to notice in Trinco is the missing generation. There wasnt a single native soul between 18 and 25! All the kids were below 12...rarely a teen walked by. Besides that, a whole generation seemed to have just vanished to thin air....the fear of recruitment to Cadreship drove any survivors away a long time ago. The barren and empty land is the second thing you notice. Miles and miles of nothingness, with the odd tree sticking out every now and then is all that remains.

The abandoned LTTE camp was a memory of its own. The sheer irony of the fact that the camp is now a base camp of the military is what you would call dark humor I suppose, which just proves man's no different than the average wild beast. "I'll fight you any day to own my territory!"

Leading into a stronger sense of Drama is the fact that nothing is what it seems....To think the pic below you is beautiful would be a mistake. It's a place that has seen more violence and blood than you can imagine. Humanity was lost here wen the LTTE close down the damn, cutting off life support for hundreds. Humanity was lost again when both sides ruthlessly massacred each other for 3 days straight. You gotta admit, it makes you wonder what's actually beneath those waters......

Beyond all this, you cannot forget that there still is a lighter side to life and that Trinco, just like any other coast of this tropical majesty would cater to that. Heaven on earth is all that comes to mind with what you see below, because in my opinion, that's what it is! A little piece of Paradise in War mongered Trinco...

Shakes

Shakes 09.....well....you can call it sheer bloody irony or drama within the drama that we didnt get thru...but one things for sure.......Shakes can be summed down 2 one word....n that's brotherhood! Its the kind of brotherhood that gets you through nights of sweat and blood!! Its the kinda of brotherhood that makes people act on stage regardless of the fact that he just got a 2 inch long sword cut on his head the day before!

Regardless of the fights we've had, the quarrels we've been through, the meltdowns on and off stage....we've always stuck by each other, coz we alwys remeber that wen it comes down we have no one else but each other....none of us wanted 2 win it because we wanted 2 shine.....we wanted 2 win it so that we could make the brother standing next 2 us deserves 2 win it!! N in the end, it was never about a trophy, it was about giving your heart out for something much bigger than you could ever become!

I cant comment on plays that i havent been in...but Richard, Macbeth, n All's Well!!! These are three events in my life that has changed me and educated me and made me what i am today...and i stand here to speak for lime perera as well!!!! da 2 of us hav been in 3 shakes plays and all 3 hav taught us one thng!!! no matter wat.....wen evrythin else looks bleak and dark.....u always hav a brother 2 lean on and say.."Machang, lets do this For Royal"!!!!
Viva La Shakes!!!!!!!!!

Funda 09

Well....since it was in a funda thread where the lime coke blog began....i think its just fair that the very first post should be on Funda! wel... funda is quite simply an event that gave us all memories 2 last a lifetime! A bond like that dont come along very often, and u gotta be extremely lucky 2 be a part of it!

Aaaah....How much i wish we could go back 2 da days of ruinin rochi's house! playin cricket in esh's garage! spendin 2 hours serchin 4 yoyo's place! watchin lion king n saw!!! sigh.....those wer the days!
Once the initial awkwardness got outta da way, Funda turned into sumthing much bigger than a project....it turned into a family! N since september 09, dis s one massive family dats stuck 2gther, dat has gone thru hell and back....and to this day, shares a bond dat no one will break!
